Well, as the late, great, Bug Bunny once said: "That's all folks!"
I would like to thank and show my appreciation to everyone who took the time to read this blog and participate in my conversation about the intersections between media and politics.
I know that I have no been perfect in my endeavors, but if anything else, I hope to leave you with this one thing: that the media is a great force and vital tool in the political process, manipulated now, but without a destiny set.
I began this semester with a strong distrust and skepticism of the mass media, jaded by the perceived biases and agendas that I thought existed. However, upon research and study, I have come to appreciate the error in my throwing it away. The media is what connects the media and the people. Without it, then there would be little to no way for us to hold our officials accountable while staying up to date with the events that transpire in this country. It is our responsibility to make sure that the government is responsive to the people, which makes it our responsibility to keep the media in check as well. Through our actions and voices, we may lift up the type of journalism and reporting that is constructive in the democratic process of this country, and fend off those who seek to destruct. Bias is a natural flaw that exists because of human nature, but to much of it, which sees the contorting of facts and truth, successfully kills the ideals we hold so dear.
Throughout my blog, I have attempted to construct these ideas. Whether I have succeeded or not is up to you, but at the very least, I hope to have gotten you thinking.
I thank you again for all your time and support, and wish you all the best of luck for the future! For now, so long
